3 Reasons Why Goal Setting Is Important

Have you ever set goals for yourself? Did you reach them? Great! What are your goals for the next 12 months? 3 years? 5 years? Next month? What are your aspirations that you look toward coming true? Goal setting is the first step toward successful goal achievement. Below are 3 reasons why goal setting is super important.

1. Motivation

Your goals are a representation of your inner desires which motivate you in life. When it’s Monday and I search up the hashtag #MondayMotivation I get inspired to work harder, work smarter and be more productive to reach my goals. But when you make your own goals, and you look at them every day, I strongly believe that you gain the skills of being self-motivated. It’s great to get other posts and individuals to motivate you, but when you can motivate yourself, that’s even more powerful. When you set your own goals, you will push yourself to reach them.

2. Gives Clarity On Where You Want to Be

Setting your own goals gives you clarity on what you ultimately want. If you don’t have a goal in life, then you are spending your life running around and not achieving anything for yourself – Bill Copeland. Do you want to lose 20 pounds in 3 months? You now know where you need to be and what you need to weigh in 3 months. By setting goals, you concentrate on them and you channel your time, energy and efforts into things that really matter to you. So, back to my diet example, you will make sure that you’re concentrated on exercising and eating healthier. Set your goals and concentrate on the things that need to be done which will give you clarity on where you want to be.

3. Leads You To Success

What does success look like to you? “I want to be a millionaire.” That’s not goal setting and that doesn’t necessarily mean you have reached success. Success in when you achieve your goals. When you set a goal – even if it’s not all that big – and you reach them, that goal is now successful. Start thinking about what you want to achieve in your life, in the next year, in the next month. What do you want to achieve? What are the steps that you will have to take to reach your goals? What does success look like to you according to your goals? Goal setting will show you if they were successful or not. So get planning!

Start setting goals. Ask yourself what you want to accomplish. If you take some time to set your goals right now, I promise that you will experience more growth.
